Catchy Slogans for the Holidays

The holidays are a crazy time of year. People are out shopping for families and friends, looking for the perfect gifts. While they are making their lists and checking them twice, you want your product to be at the forefront of their thoughts. A catchy slogan can do just that.

So, what makes the perfect holiday slogan?

Target always follows the seasons with a catchy slogan for the holidays. This year, Target went with Dream Big, Give Bigger. This tagline suggests that Target can cover all of your holiday shopping, even the biggest gift. It also suggests that you will be able to afford a bigger gift if you shop at Target. It follows the rules—it is short, positive, and honest, but it falls a little short on being catchy.

Coca-Cola is another business that changes their advertising around the holidays. Their slogan this year is Give Love, Find Love. This slogan is short and positive, but its questionable how it relates to the product. Based upon the ad spot, Coca-Cola is expressing that sharing a Coca-Cola brings people together and that a Coca-Cola is a great gift in and of itself. But this tagline is difficult to remember and can even be confusing.

My favorite catchy slogan this year is from Garmin. You may not think Give a Garmin is overly creative or catchy at first glance, but Garmin did a terrific job of presenting the slogan on its ad spot. By integrating its ad into one of the most catchy Christmas songs played on the radio and in stores, Carol of the Bells, and incorporating the tagline into the song (Give-a-give-a-give-a-Garmin), shoppers will think of Garmin every time it plays. It just goes to show you that a little creativity can go a long way to create your perfect catchy slogan.
